Generosity
“Freely you have received, freely give.”
Matthew 10 v.8
Christians believe that everything that we have is a gift from God, we should therefore, as a way of showing our love and thankfulness be willing to give generously to others. God’s generosity is best described as ‘grace’, love given freely without limit or conditions. It is not earned or even deserved and is displayed most of all in the gift of Jesus and his willingness to freely give his life to take the punishment we deserve for our sin. “We were spiritually dead because of the things we did wrong against God. But God gave us new life with Christ. You have been saved by God’s grace. He did this so that for all future time he could show the very great riches of his grace. He shows that grace by being kind to us in Christ Jesus. I mean that you have been saved by grace because you believe. You did not save yourselves. It was a gift from God.” Ephesians 2 v 5 & 7-8. At All Saints we recognise that everything that we have and enjoy is a gift from God and are thankful to him. We encourage the children to be generous with their time, words, talents and possessions and that true generousity means giving without expecting anything in return. “God has shown you his grace in giving you different gifts. And you are like servants who are responsible for using God’s gifts. So be good servants and use your gifts to serve each other.” 1 Peter 4 v 10.
