In Nursery we provide a stimulating and challenging environment that encourages the children to be independent learners. We are guided by the children's interests and they are encouraged to use their imagination and inquisitiveness to help them acquire the knowledge, skills and positive attitudes they need to be ready for school. Mrs Akrill teaches in Nursery with Mrs Maddock as Nursery Nurse and teaching assistants - Ms Gorashi and Mrs Hartley-James.
The day is split into two sessions - mornings (8.30am to 11.30am) and afternoons (12.30pm to 3.30pm) with children attending either every morning or every afternoon.
This week in Nursery we will be celebrating Chinese New Year. We will play with noodles, do some dancing to Chinese music, make dragons and cook some Chinese food.
We have enjoyed reading'Brown bear, brown bear what do you see?' and the children know it so well they are able to tell the story themselves. We even thought of animals we'd like to see and used them to make our own story books. We are now moving on to the book 'Polar bear, polar bear, what do you hear?' and will play lots of listening games. We have been talking a lot about the first sound in our names. At home you could talk about the first sound in family names or even the food on your plate at dinner time!
