Breakfast and After School Club
Breakfast and After School Club
Our Breakfast and After School Club has been running since September 2005. We are OFSTED registered for children aged 4 to 11. We have spaces for 40 children at Breakfast Club and 56 at After School Club.
The Manager, Ann Dunsdon and Deputy Manager, Cath Day lead a team of seven qualified play workers who are responsible for overseeing activities and the supervision of children. The club is a non-profit making organisation, which aims to give value for money with a wide variety of activities accessible to all children at all times.
What we do:
We aim to provide a friendly environment in which the children can play with their friends, let off steam after a long day at school, or just relax with a book. At After School Club we also have an adult/older child led craft activity for children to produce an end result of their choosing.
We have a wide range of resources that children can choose from freely, ranging from construction to small world toys to develop their imagination. Weather permitting we have outside play which includes football, playing trim trail, parachute games and a host of other outside activities to enhance physical development. If weather is unsuitable we have access to the school hall in which the children can choose to play badminton, ball games, do obstacle courses and musical movement, to name but a few.
From Monday - Wednesday our Reception children have access to a smaller area with a separate secure outside space to help them adjust to the After School Club routine and for age appropriate play and to build relationships with their peer groups.
Breakfast Club - On arriving the children can choose freely from a range of resources, choose to play a game or spend time at the drawing table.
Breakfast is available from 7.30 am to 8.20 am when the children can select from cereals, toast and crumpets with a range of toppings, scrambled or poached eggs, fresh fruit and a selection of drinks. Children are encouraged to do their own pouring and spreading but adults are on hand to assist when needed.
The children have free play time after eating until 8.40 am when they then tidy away and are escorted to their classrooms for 8.45 am.
After School Club - On arrival the children can freely choose their play time.
Tea runs from 3.15 pm until all children have eaten. Children that have attended other after school activities, such as football, netball etc will be collected by a member of staff and brought back for tea. A light tea consists of sandwiches, wraps or a jacket potato with a selection of fillings. The children help themselves to a range of vegetables and fillings which are kept topped up on the dining table. We encourage independence but staff are available to assist with cutting, pouring and spreading where needed. Dessert consists of yoghurt, jelly, rice pudding etc and fresh fruit and water is always available.
At our club all dietary requirements are catered for and we always have our weekly menu displayed on our noticeboard by the Sign In/Out Sheet. After the children have eaten they have the choice of free play, quiet time or outdoor play until the time they are collected.
The Breakfast and After School Clubs operate during term time only. The Breakfast Club runs from 7.30 am - 8.45 am and After School Club from 3.15 - 6.00 pm. As demand for places is high, we allocate on a first come, first served basis. The booking forms for the following term are available on the second Monday of each term. We recommend that they are returned as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Confirmation of sessions and fees will be given out the following week.
